Therehasbeenaheateddiscussionaboutlibrariesattheageofinformationamongpeople.Somepeople,especiallytheyoungergeneration,challengethevalueofconventionallibraries.Whentheyneedanyinformationintheirstudiesorwork,theycanturntotheircomputersforhelp.Forthisreason,theydonotneedtogotoalibraryforborrowingorreturningoneortwobooks.

Whileothers,includingmostoldpeopleaswellasscholars,valuelibraries.Theylovelibrariesbecausetheycanenjoypeaceandquietnessinanisolatedspiritualworld.Andtheyalsohaveaccesstorareacademicworksneededfortheirstudiesinthelibraries.

Inmyview,conventionallibrariesarestillavailablethoughthereisstillmuchroomforimproving.AttheAgeofInformation,aslongasknowledgeisrespectedandcherished,librarieswon’textinctfromourlives.Ontheotherhand,librariesshouldnotrefusethelatestinformationtechnology,whichwillenablethemtoregainthoseyoungreaders.

图书馆在信息时代无用了吗?

关于信息时代的图书馆人们有热烈的讨论。有些人，尤其是年轻人，质疑传统图书馆的价值。当他们在学习或工作中需要任何信息时，他们会寻求电脑的帮助。因此他们不需要去图书馆借还一两本书。

但其他人，包括老年人和学者们，重视图书馆的存在价值。他们热爱图书馆因为他们可以在独立的精神世界里享受平静，而且他们可以在图书馆里找到自己在学术研究上需要的珍贵资料。

在我看来，传统图书馆依然有价值，虽然存在着不少提升空间。在信息时代里，只要只是被尊敬被珍视，图书馆就不会消失。另一方面，图书馆也不能拒绝最新的信息科技，这会让他们重新获得年轻读者们的青睐。
