The last several decades have seen a decline in parental influence on their children. In fact,it seems that the more children watch movies and television and get influenced by people outside the home,the more their parents lose control over them. Nowadays,children and teens are often searching for role models other than their parents to imitate.

They naturally look to celebrities like singers,movie stars,and athletes to be their guides. For example,many high school students like to dress in the latest fashions that have been made popular by various celebrities. They even cut their hair like famous people or say the same things as them. Parents simply cannot complete with these stars when it comes to influencing their children.

Many television shows,movies,and video games have high levels of violent content and bad language,which greatly influence young people watching them. Children have begun acting badly based upon what they have seen on various media.

Should College Students Hire Cleaners?

It was recently reported that a few college students hired a help to do some cleaning in their dorm. These students attribute this behavior to their limited spare time. They claim that it can help them to save time and pay more attention to their studies. As far as I am concerned, such a chain of reasoning is seriously flawed, and they are just making an excuse for their laziness. College students should not hire a help for their dormitory cleaning.

To begin with, it is not necessary for college students to hire a cleaner. As boarding-school students living in tiny dorms, we don’t have much cleaning to do at all. What we need to do every day is just washing or some basic cleaning, which we learned to do in childhood. Undoubtedly we can manage them ourselves. In addition, cleaning up a dorm won’t take much time. Conversely, it may help us to divert our attention away from studies and reduce our pressure. As a result, we don’t need to hire a cleaner to keep our dorms clean.

A more important reason why university students should not hire a cleaner is that university education involves both knowledge learning and character building. In the university we should try our best to be more independent and self-reliant. Otherwise, we cannot shoulder greater responsibility when we step into the society. If now we still rely on cleaners for dorm sanitation, how can we earn our own living in the future? Consequently, the most basic thing we should do now is to take care of ourselves and prepare for our future, instead of evading responsibility by hiring a help.

In summary, college students should learn to stand on their own feet. Hiring a cleaner is definitely not a wise choice.

The Best Way to Stay Health

Nowadays，the desire for good health is universal. Wherever you are and whatever you do, staying healthy is always important. With the improvement of our living standards, people are attaching more and more importance to their health. However, which do you think is the best way to keep healthy? Different people come up with different views: eating green food, doing outdoor exercises or going to hospital for medical treatment frequently. As far as I am concerned, the best way to keep healthy is to develop a good quality of psychology.

According to some surveys, nowadays, most patients are not physically sick but mentally ill. The burden on their shoulders is much heavier than others, so they can't step out of the shadow of depression and sadness. They need to release their spirit to the nature.

Besides, if you have developed a good quality of psychology, you’ll become more sociable and thus more willing to play your part in the society. Enrolling for some keep-fit clubs or joining some travel agency, which by themselves are various versions of physical exercise, will benefit you a lot.

As a poem says, youth is not a period of time; it’s a state of mind. Everybody wants to keep young at heart because youth is a symbol for endless energy and passion for living. Keep a good quality of mind, or keep a sense of humor, to be precise, even if you are 80, and you’ll never be old.

According to the investigation,Chinese students rely much more on their parents for financial support than their American counterparts . As far as I’m concerned,there are many reasons behind the gap and it will change in the future.

In my opinion,the main reason lies in the sense of independence. American students are taught to be independent when they are very young. For example,they will have to earn their own pocket money by helping with the house chores or doing part-time jobs since their childhood. On the contrary,Chinese students are taken such good are of that it is very difficult for them to live on eir own. In other words,American parents treat their children in college as responsible adults while Chinese parents will take it for granted that they should help their children in all ways as long as the children need it. As a result,Chinese American peers do. What’s more,Chinese students have fewer opportunities to find part-time jobs.

However,the gap will narrow gradually in the future. Nowadays more and more Chinese students are seeking part-time jobs as they’re eager to acquire some social skills and earn some money,which will help them to do more in school and to live independently. As to the American students,I think the sources of American students’ income will remain the same.
