What is a Main Idea?

The overall fact, feeling, or thought a writer wants to convey about his or her subject.

The main idea of each paragraph should work to support the overall main idea of the entire text.

How to find the impiled Main Idea?
1.When the main idea is explicit, you must first identify what the topic of the writing is before determining what it is the writer wants the reader to know about that topic.
2.If the main idea is not stated ex[licitly,you must consciously work to uncover it by analyzing the details to infer the main idea.
3.Infering the main idea requires you to look for patterns in the details as you read.
4.Asking question
ask who, what, where, why, and hou about the topic.
5.Combining Sentences
Some impiled main ideas can be constructed by combining two or more sentences in a passage.
6.Summing up Important Ideas into One Sentence.
