大四的同学难免要经历考研、找工作乃至出国留学的艰难选择和奋斗历程，本文作者，武汉大学的方雅茜同学也不例外。在此过程中，还引发了她对高等教育的思考―――

ByFangYaqianIamastandardsenior．MaybeIwillcontinuemycareerasapostgraduate，butit'salsopossiblethatIwillchoosetoplungeintothesociety―thebiggestuniversityforeveryone．IfIchoosethelatter，Iwillhavetofaceoneofthebiggestchallengesinmylife―tofindajob，agoodjob，asuitablejob，asatisfactoryjob．However，whenIenterthe“talentmarket，Iwillprobablyfeeldisappointedanddepressed，asmostoftheundergraduatesdonow．Becausesomanyoftheenterprisesnowadaysrequiretheiremployeestohaveseveralyears'workingexperiencewhenrecruiting．Thereasontheylistoutisstudentswhohavejustgraduatedfromuniversitiesknownothingexceptdullanddrytheories．Buthowandwherecanweaccumulatetheworkingexperiencewhilethereisnoenterpriseprovidesuswiththeopportunitytoexerciseourselves？

Afamouseducatoroncesaid：“Ifwecompareourhighereducationwiththatofthewesterncountries，it'snotdifficultforustodiscoverthatwehaven'tattachedenoughimportancetothequalityeducation．Althoughtheeducationcommitteehastakenaseriesoffirmreformstorealizethequalityeducation，completingthisheavytaskstillhasalongwaytogo．Themodernsocietyneedsthecomprehensivetalent，butit'sstilleasytofindauniversitystudentwhoknowsnothingexceptreciting；themodernsocietyneedstheopentalent，butit'sstillhardforauniversitystudenttogiveagoodspeechinpublic；themodernsocietyneedsphysicallyandmentallyhealthytalent，butthecrimerateinuniversitystillkeepsrising．Why？Maybethetaskofhighereducationtodayisnotonlytoteachstudentsknowledgebutalso，andmoreimportantinmyopinion，toteachthemhowtoberealhumanbeings．Ifyoudon'tknowhowtobeaperson，howcanyoubeanexcellentworker？Ifmostuniversitystudentshaveboththeoreticalbasisandpracticingability，dotheenterprisesneedtorequiretheworkingexperiencewhenrecruiting？TheotherdayIreadanarticleontheInternet．Itgavemeafreshideaabouthighereducation．Thewriter，whoisafamousprofessionalinZhejiangUniversity，saidthathighereducationisakindofmerchandise．Studentspaymoneytoenteruniversitiesandtheyconsiderthehighereducationakindofinvestmentwhichwillhelpthemtofindagoodjobinthefuture．Sincethehighereducationnowadayscan'taddenoughvaluetothestudents，asaresult，theycan'tgetwellpreparedforfindingagoodjob．Iftheuniversitiescantreatthestudentsasrealconsumers，theywillofferbetter“servicesaccordingtothedemandofthestudentsaswellasthetalentmarket．

Althoughtherealityisnotasfineaswehaveexpected，wearegladtoseesomereformsreallycomingintoeffect．Forexample，thereareincreasinglymoreprofessorsandassociateprofessorsenteringtheeducationalfieldofundergraduates．Theuniversitiesalsoholdvariouscompetitionstoencouragetheirstudentstosetupbusiness．Inaword，weareprogressing．

Thesocietyisameltingpot，andtheuniversityisanepitomeofit．Youcanaccumulateknowledge，reshapepersonality，cultivatecompetenceandtastealothere．However，nomaterhowyoudefineyouruniversity，thereisonethingforsure，thatis，it'stheplacewhereyourdreambeginstofly．
