Nyabogasaidthemosqueworkstode-radicalizetheyoutharoundMajengo.

“WhenweencounteraMuslimsoradicalizedmeaninghisviewsareagainsttheteachingsoftheProphetandtheQuran,weexplainthetruthindetailuntiltheychangetheirhardlinestance.Oncetheyknowthetruthit'sthenuptothem,"hesaid."Forcingthemtobemoderateisanotherthingaltogether.Wecannotforcethem.Oursistoshowthemthewayandtellthemthattheirradicalizedstandiswrong.”

Advocatinginclusion

BenjiNdolofromtheOrganizationofNationalEmpowerment,agroupthatadvocatesforpolicychangeandgoodgovernance,saidtheproblemofradicalizationcouldbeaddressedbythegovernmentthroughinclusion.

“It'sgottodomoreintermsofprograms,intermsofaffirmativeaction,intermsofproactive,youknow,measures,tobringtheyouthintomainstreamnation-building,whetherit'stenders[contracts],whetherit'sprojects,whetherit'sdifferentundertakingstocreateopportunityforthemtoearnsomethingandgetthemoffthesidelines,"saidNdolo.

KenyansareconcernedaboutIslamicmilitancyinthewakeofdeadlyattacksclaimedbyal-Shabab.Lastmonth,al-Shababgunmenkilled148peopleatauniversityinthetownofGarissa.ThegroupsaidtheattackwasinretaliationforKenya'smilitaryinvolvementinSomalia.
