Electronicwaste,ore-waste,hasbecomeanissueofseriousconcerntothepublicasagrowingnumberofelectronicitemsarediscardedinlandfillseveryyear.Manyconsumersarenotawarethatelectronicslikecomputersandcellphonesactuallycontaintoxinsthatcanleachoutintothesoilanddamagetheenvironment.

E-wastecompoundsposehazardstotheenvironmentaswellasthehumanbeings.Tostartwith,whenexposedtoheat,thecomponentsofe-wastereleasetoxicfumesandgas,pollutingtheairandcausingglobalenvironmentalproblems.Whencircuitbreakersdeteriorate,theyreleasetoxins,suchasmercury,thatpollutegroundwater.Inadditiontoitsdamagingeffectontheenvironment,researchershavenowlinkede-wastetoadverseeffectsonhumanhealth.

Inmyview,it’shightimethatthedamageofe-wastedshouldberealizedbythepublicandmeasuresshouldbetakentocopewiththisissue.Oneideaistoputgreaterresponsibilityonthecompaniesthatproducethegoods.Itshouldbemandatoryforthemtotakingtheabandoneditemsbackanddisposetheminanenvironmentally-friendlymanner.
