Trumptoldreportersthemeetingwassupposedtolastabouttenminutesbutlasted90,anditcouldhavegoneonevenlonger.
"Ilookforwardtodealingwiththepresidentinthefuture,includingcounsel,"hesaid."Heexplainedsomeofthedifficultiesandthehigh-flyingassetsandsomeofthewonderfulthingsthathavebeenachieved.Mr.President,itwaswonderfulmeetingwithyouandIlookforwardtomeetingwithyoumanymoretimesinthefuture."
TheWhiteHousesaidObamaofficialsaremakingsurethatTrumpandhisyet-to-be-namedkeyofficialsare"preparedfromdayonetoprotectournationalsecurity."U.S.intelligenceanddefenseofficialsarestartingtogiveTrumpdailybriefingsonthreatstothecountry'ssecurityandoverseasmilitaryoperations.
Inaddition,theObamaadministrationplanstohosttwoexercisesinvolvingseveralgovernmentagenciestohelpfamiliarizeTrumpofficialswithhowthegovernmentrespondstodomesticemergencies,whetherterroristattacksorsuchnaturaldisastersasviolenttornadoesandhurricanes.

Despitethebittercampaign,ObamapledgedWednesdaytocooperatewithTrump'stakeover.
"Itisnosecretthatthepresident-electandIhavesomeprettysignificantdifferences,"Obamasaid."Butremember,eightyearsago,President[GeorgeW.]BushandIhadsomeprettysignificantdifferences.ButPresidentBush'steamcouldnothavebeenmoreprofessionalormoregraciousinmakingsurewehadasmoothtransition."

SecretaryofStateJohnKerrycitedthetraditionofpeacefulchangesinleadershipashecongratulatedTrumponThursdayandwishedhimwellforthe"enormouschallengesthathewillundertake."
