In conclusion, I think that Art is a method of expressing individual's physical statement or emtional feelings

Different forms of Arts

1. Painting 2. Architecture 3. Sculpture 4. Literature 5. Music 6. Performing (Choreography) 7. Cinema

Interactions with other AOK

History

Mathematics

- Paintings can be drawn with mathmematic princinples. (Ex. The use of the Golden Ratio) The use of geometric shapes & patterns demonstrates the mathematical influence on aesthetics. - Music and rhythm also require mathematic principles. (Ex. Tempo)

Natural Sciences

- Art is opposite to natural sciences as natural sciences often aim to explore what is really out there. Its method is more rigid, not requiring imagination. - However, I think that combination of imagination and reason can be reconciled through the arts.

Human Sciences

4. Tools required to develop knowledge

A. Practical (Cognitive)

1. Medium & Materials (Ex. watercolor, paint or clay) 2. Techniques & Skills (Ex. Guitarist = fingerpicking skill) 3. Collaboration (Work with others to produce artworks) 4. Exhibitions & Performances (Where art is showcased to the public)

5. New types of art (developemnt in technology)

This has caused a change in Traditional Arts. For example people may use other digital tools or even AIs. AI drawing might lead to a decrease in demand for traditional art, causing artists to lose income.

B. Conceptual (intangible, imagination, aesthetics)

1. Skills to value arts

This skill helps to have deeper comprehensive skill

2. Understanding of the beauty

Every human has dinstinctive beauty standard, causing various interpretation and understanding.

3. Critique & interpretation

Conclusion

I found that sometimes both practical and conceptal tools can be used in one piece of artwork. These helps audiences to easliy understand the meaning of their artworks

5. Evaluation of the ‘soundness’ of the knowledge created in Arts

1. Justified True Belief

I believe that individual audiences often provide justifications for their interpretations at artworks. These justifications can be informed by factors such as the artist's background, historical context, and emotional responses. I think the "true" belief occurs when an individual's interpretation aligns with the artist's intent. After understanding the artist's intent, the audience will have a subjective opinion about the quality or own meaning of the art. Therefore, belief refers to individual's evaluation of an artwork.

2. Meaningful Doubt

Doubting the validity, value, and quality of artistic expression

Artist's intent vs. Audience interpretation (Original value. Impact on social, society, indivisual. Which one is more important? Should the art only be analyzed in one way?)

3. The four truth test

(i) Correspondence truth test

It states that the truth of a statement is determinded by how it relates to the world. Arts can be related to the world in this ways: Communication of worldviews, the use of language, different engagement and imagination, showcase, etc.

(ii) Pragmatic truth test

It evaluate the truth of a statement based on its usefulness or practicality. Arts are very useful as it helps to foster one's creativity and imagination skill. Helps to view one thing with different perspectives. Convey various meanings.

(iii) Consensus truth test

It's a concept that suggests that a statement is true if it is generally agreed upon by people. Each people's interpretaion with artworks is different. So not majority of people will agree with the same thing.

(iv) Coherence truth test

In this truth test, the idea is true when the knowledge fits with our existing beliefs and experiences. Everyone has different perspective, so everyone's thoughts will not be the same. However, it become true when someone has same background cultural or same experienes.

4. Empricism & Rationalism

Empricism art is the art that is based on experience. Artists transform their sensory experience their conceived of ideas in the mind to the artworks. For example, surrealial art is an type of empricism, the element are all from real life or the artists' imagination. Rationalism approach is often used in Architecture. It needs theory of geometric and other mathematical princinples. Therefore, I think that Arts is an knowledge that could be derived by both empricism and rationalism method.

6. A statement of judgment as to the extent that I think Arts effectively and consistently generates sound knowledge.

After deeply understanding the scope, method and tools of art sand going through the four different truth test, I recognized that the art can be generated as sound knowledge. The value of the art is based on the experience, and the rational artist represents a combination of logic and intuition. Then the audiences will going to interprete their personal situation and evaluate the message of the arts. Therefore, I believe that using the method of interpreation with audience will aid to produce sound knowledge because either the artists or audiences will not be able. togain knowledge when they are not interacting and have connection.
