by accident 意外，偶然（常见短语，考的最多的是它的意思）

not…until… 直到…才…（重中之重，这个用法非常重要！）

I didn't go to bed until I finished my work. 我直到完成我的工作才去睡觉

when, while, as 都表示“当„„时候，，when 引导的从句的动作与主句的动词

同时发生，也可先后发生; as, while 引导的从句则强调主句和从句的动作同时发生

When I got to the station, the train had alreadyleft.He sang merrily as he was working.

till, until 均表示“到„„时候止”，肯定句中的谓语必须是延续性动作。

若主句谓语是终止性动词，则主句要用否定形式，意为动作“到„„才„„”开始发生

I worked till late at night.She didn't get up until her mother came in.

till 和 until 通常情况下可以互换，只是在句首时 until 比 till 更常用

均引导让步状语从句，意为“虽然„" , although 较正式，though 最常用

Though(Although) he was tired, he kept onworking.

注意 though although 引导的从句不能与 but / however 连用，但可以与 yet, still 连用

though 还可以与别的词结合使用，如 even though/asthough，而 although 则不能这样搭配。

as soon as 表示“一..就..”的意思。as soon as 置于主句前后都可以

要注意:当主句是一般将来时，as soon as 引导的从句用一般现在时。

As soon as she gets here I'll tell her about it. Mary left as soon as she finished the work.

Either.or.,主要用于表示选择，其意为“要么..要么..’) ’或者..或者..”

用于连接两个性质相同的词或短语。

You canhave either this one or that one.你拿这个或那个都可以。

You must either go at once or wait till tomorrow.你要么马上走，要么等到明天。

We can finish the work either this week or next week.不是这星期就是下星期我们就可完成这项工作。

Either he or you are right.要么他对，要么你对。

但在非正式文体中，有时也会一律用复数谓语。

If either David or Janet come, they will want a drink.大卫或珍妮特来的话，是要喝酒的

either. . . or„连接两个成分作主语时，谓语动词通常与其靠近的主语保持一致。

Either you or I am to go.你或我必须有人去either... or...除可连接两个词或短语外

有时也可连接两个句子。Either you must improve your work or I shalldismiss you.

Either you'll leave this house or I'll call thepolice.你要是不离开这座房子，我就叫警察来。

either. . . or„的否定式可以是 not either. . .or...，也可以是 neither. . . nor. . .。

He didn't either write or phone.=He neither wrote nor phoned.他既没写信又没打电话。

注意:正如不能说 either. . . not 一样(但可说 not. . . either)，英语习惯上也不说either.or..not。

如不能说:Either he or his wife hasn't come.可改为:Neither he nor his wife has come.
